First Meeting With Amanda
As usual, I arranged the first meeting with Amanda in a local coffee shop. I always like to meet new clients on neutral ground at first as I feel it encourages them to relax and open up and talk more so we can formulate a plan to help them achieve their goals.
I always arrive at least 30 mins early to one of these meetings; I like to be there first as it puts me in a position of authority because they are entering my space and not me entering the client’s personal space.
Amanda was punctual to the minute, at first, she was very nervous, she found it very difficult to look directly at me she was looking down. After 15 mins of small talk, Amanda started to relax and began to tell me more about her life and her aspirations now.
It was clear she missed her husband very much and had no intention of looking for a replacement for him. Amanda knew she could not continue in the downward spiral she was in Amanda had to make some severe changes to her life or she would be letting her husband down, and that was something that bothered her, what he would think of her if he was still here.
Amanda dressed modestly, appropriate for her age, but she looked classy. Amanda had style
Until now, I was unaware that Amanda business was a small hotel in the lakes.
Amanda admitted that she could run this hotel in her sleep but had no motivation and suffered from chronic procrastination she was in desperate n end of accountability it’s before she wrecked the business her and her husband had built.
The job with Amanda was turning out to be much bigger than I first anticipated and would require a lot of my time. We agreed on a trial period for a month which would include me having the use of a room at her hotel, so I did not have to travel so much while we worked getting Amanda on the right path. Luckily it was not peak season so we did have time to get a system in place where Amanda could manage her hotel and life properly.
We agreed I would stay at the hotel at the weekend and observe Amanda and how she was coping with her life. Then we would sit down on Monday to discuss my plan for Amanda.
